Cake Smash Sessions | Anderson, Indiana
I don’t think that I’m alone when I say that as a photographer, cake smash sessions are one of my favorites! It’s so fun to watch a baby tear apart a cake. At first, they seem unsure…like, “I didn’t think I was allowed to eat cake sitting on the floor AND make a mess of it…” but once they start digging in, their mission becomes to destroy that cake.
A cake smash session is the perfect way to celebrate their first trip around the sun! These photos are great for invitations to their first birthday party and for you and your family to look back on.
So, how do you go about scheduling a cake smash session? First, think about the theme you’d like to use for the session. There are so many adorable ideas out there! Some of my favorites include:
- Under the Sea
- Winnie the Pooh
- Winter Wonderland
- Camping Cutie
- Bee-Day Bash
- Butterflies
And honestly, so many more…
If you want to throw in a unique twist, you could also consider a steak smash or a pasta smash!
Once you’ve determined your theme, it’s time to schedule. I’ll likely need to order a backdrop, so I suggest scheduling 2 months in advance to allow enough time for delivery. Additionally, you’ll want to decide where to get your cake. I recommend a 4-6 inch round cake. I would advise against colors like red, black, or brown. Red tends to show up looking a little gorey..and brown tends to look like your baby may have gotten into their diaper…
