Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most incredible milestones, and capturing those early days with professional newborn photography is something you’ll cherish forever. If you’re wondering how the booking process works, I’ve laid it out step-by-step to make it simple and stress-free!
Step 1: Reserve Your Session with a Retainer
To officially book your newborn session, a $75 non-refundable retainer is required. This fee secures your spot on my calendar and ensures that I can plan around your due date. Since newborns arrive on their own schedule, I only take a limited number of bookings each month to allow for flexibility—so booking early is always a good idea!
Step 2: Fill Out a Styling Questionnaire
You’ll also fill out a styling questionnaire. This is where the fun begins! The questionnaire helps me get to know your style preferences, favorite colors, nursery themes, and any must-have shots. Whether you love neutrals, soft pastels, or bold colors, I’ll use this information to design a session that’s perfectly tailored to you and your baby. While I can’t guarantee poses you are welcome to suggest ones that you’ve seen and loved and I’ll prioritize those on my list. If you have seen certain props that you like you can let me know about those as well.
If you’d like to commemorate something such as a holiday, your job or your spouses job or your baby being a rainbow baby I’m happy to incorporate items in the session to showcase this! Sometimes I may have to order some props for this so you will need to make sure that you schedule to allow enough time for this.
Step 3: Sign the Photography Contract
Next, you’ll review and sign a contract outlining the terms of the session. This helps protect both of us and ensures we’re on the same page about timing, image delivery, and other important details.
What Happens Next?
Once you’ve booked, I’ll keep in touch as your due date approaches. After baby arrives, you’ll reach out to schedule the exact date of your session—ideally within the first 7-14 days after birth when babies are still extra sleepy and snuggly.
From there, you’ll just show up and relax while I create beautiful, timeless portraits of your newest love.
My newborn photography studio is located on the north side of Anderson, Indiana. I’m roughly a half hour from Fishers, Noblesville and Muncie.
