I’ve been fascinated with cameras since I was 6 years old. My first camera was a Barbie Polaroid given to me by my great-aunt and uncle for Christmas. I loved taking photos. I received my first digital camera in middle school and that really sparked my passion for photography. I began using photoshop and decided that being a photographer would eventually become my livelihood. I was going to be a National Geographic photographer. I wanted to travel the world and take photos of animals and landscapes. As a child these dreams seem much more feasible. Reality set in when I entered college. I decided to study business management and I was miserable. I decided to take a year off (which of course became indefinitely) and I pushed my dream of being a photographer aside.
In 2022, my husband and I finally became pregnant after a year of trying with our daughter Paisley. We booked a bump to baby package with a photographer recommended to us by a friend. Watching Paisley’s newborn photos get done was fascinating to me. Browsing through social media I began seeing videos of newborn photographers styling and posing babies for photos and I thought, “Maybe I can get into this..” I started doing research and watching educational videos and announced to my husband that I was going to start taking newborn photos. I posted a model call and was shocked at the amount of people who responded.
My first newborn session definitely made me question if I was on the right path but I wasn’t going to give up. The next few newborns had me feeling more confident. Who doesn’t love cuddling babies? Nearly two years later I still love doing newborn photos.
